How Powershare Home Backup Works

When the grid goes down, Cybertruck starts powering your home automatically through the Universal Wall Connector, as long as it’s plugged in and has charge above the limit you set. It provides up to 11.5 kW.

Your home may lose power for a few seconds while Cybertruck takes over, and again when the grid comes back.

Keep Enough Range to Drive

In the Tesla app you set a discharge limit: the charge level at which Cybertruck stops powering the house, so there’s always range left to drive. The app and the touchscreen show how much energy is left above that limit.

Powershare and Tesla Powerwall

Powershare also works with Tesla Powerwall. If you already have Powerwall, or you’re adding one, we’ll confirm the right equipment for your home when we quote.

Equipment and Installation

A standalone Powershare system uses a Tesla Universal Wall Connector, which charges Cybertruck and sends power back to the house, and a Tesla Powershare Gateway, which separates your home from the grid during an outage. Tesla requires installation by a certified installer, and we handle the permit with your local electrical authority.
