Electrical Panel Replacement and Service Upgrades in Vancouver and the North Shore
Bourne Electric replaces electrical panels and upgrades services to 200, 320 and 400 amps for homes across West Vancouver, the North Shore and Greater Vancouver. Many older homes still run on a 60, 100 or 125 amp service, which often isn’t enough for EV chargers, a heat pump and a modern kitchen together.
We’re a licensed electrical contractor (Technical Safety BC Licence LEL0101560), and our electricians are all Red Seal.

When to replace your electrical panel
We replace old and full panels with a new one sized for your home today and for what you’ll add later. Common reasons:
No free spaces left in the panel for new circuits
Breakers that trip when several appliances run at once
A renovation, an addition or a laneway home
Adding EV chargers or a heat pump
200, 320 and 400 amp service upgrades
A service upgrade raises how much power your home can draw from BC Hydro. 200 amps suits most homes. Larger homes running several EV chargers, a heat pump, or a pool or hot tub can need 320 or 400 amps. We size the service from a load calculation, handle the permit and coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with BC Hydro.

Leviton panels and smart breakers
We install Leviton panels with Leviton smart breakers. The My Leviton app shows your home’s energy use in real time, for the whole panel or for each circuit, alerts you when a breaker trips, and lets you switch circuits off remotely. Leviton smart breakers only fit Leviton panels, so they’re easiest to add with a panel replacement or service upgrade.
How a panel or service upgrade works
Photos and quote. Send photos of your panel, main breaker and meter, and tell us what you’re planning to add.
Load check. We calculate your home’s load today, plan for what you’ll add, and size the service at 200, 320 or 400 amps.
Permits. We handle the permit with your local electrical authority.
Changeover. BC Hydro disconnects the power, we install the new panel and service and move your circuits across, then BC Hydro reconnects.
Inspection. The finished work is inspected under the permit.
